Irish Health Literacy Seminar and Training Event
MSD and the National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) are holding an afternoon seminar where there will be a presentation of the first ever results from the EU Health Literacy Survey. This will be followed by free plain English and literacy awareness training for employees in the health sector. The 2012 Crystal Clear MSD Health Literacy Awards will also be launched at the event.

Crystal Clear MSD Health Literacy Awards 2007-2010
The Crystal Clear awards were launched in 2007. The awards recognise and reward those who work in the healthcare environment and have made efforts to ensure that their communications with their patients are crystal clear.
National Health Literacy Conference 2010
The National Health Literacy Conference was held in Dublin on the 25 June with health literacy expert and Vice-Chancellor of Southampton University, Professor Don Nutbeam. The Dublin conference was the first conference on health literacy in Ireland for seven years, a key part of MSD Ireland’s partnership with NALA and the partnership’s long term strategy to work with the Irish Government to develop a national policy related to health literacy.
Visit by Dr Rima Rudd to Ireland
Four national roundtable meetings were held in Dublin in February 2009 with guest speaker and international health literacy expert, Dr. Rima Rudd, Senior Lecturer on Society, Human Development and Health at the Harvard School of Public Health.
