Dara is Editor of the doctors’ newspaper Irish Medical Times. Former Editor of Medicine Weekly, Dara joined IMT as senior reporter in January 2009 after a year of travelling and a period freelancing in the national press. He was appointed Editor of IMT in May.

An award-winning journalist, Dara has been recognised at the Irish Medical Media Awards on four successive occasions, receiving the professional medical journalist of the year award in 2009 for his freelance work with Scope magazine and the overall Irish Medical Journalist of the Year award in 2007.
He is on the organising committee of the Irish Healthcare Awards, and has in the past been heavily involved with the JMS Doctor Awards for Excellence in Clinical Research.

Launched in 1967, IMT has the highest circulation of any medical newspaper in Ireland.
